What can I do if my doctor is fully booked or away?

In the event that your physician is fully booked, you will be offered the opportunity to see an available physician, be given information regarding the next available after-hours clinic and be given the date of the next available appointment with your physician. Patients are given the choice to determine which alternative best suits their needs and plans.

Why do I have to book an appointment for a prescription renewal?

It is your responsibility as a patient to ensure that you have enough medication until your next appointment. Proper medical practice requires regular monitoring of persons taking any medication and as such you must be seen by a physician. Patients requiring prescription renewals will be accommodated as soon as possible.

What can I do to reduce the wait time at an appointment?

Patients can help us prevent long waits by:

  • Explaining the reason for your visit when you make your appointment. This helps us determine how much time you will need with the doctor.
  • Booking separate appointments for other family members. This helps us determine how much time each person will need with the doctor.
  • Calling the Clinic if you will be late or cannot keep your appointment. This courtesy may reduce the waiting time for other patients. It also allows us to book another person who is waiting for an appointment.
  • Collecting your thoughts before seeing the doctor. Particularly those details concerning your symptoms and any questions you may want to ask. This could include writing those symptoms and questions down before your appointment.
